Sketchup to Twinmotion SketchUp SketchUp Community

I forgot about the quick reference cards. I have it printed out and on my desk somewhere. Too bad it doesn’t show up when you do a search on help. I am completely unable to read or create files, or even export a simple cube to a test STL file. I however took the materials folder out of 2025 for save keeping and replaced it with 2024 version.

SketchUp Fundamentals (Desktop)

I just didn’t want to go my own route and then find out later there was an entire extended set that most people try to use. @pahchay Read this thread all the way through from the top. My experience with 2017 on the last few versions of macOS is that it will launch and run for a bit, but is very unstable and crashes often. Does anyone know where I can find a version of SketchUp Make 2017 free? I only need it for some personal projects – planning my decking project and building a workshop in my garage.

Another very useful help ressource is the Instructor that you can get by opening its window. When you are done with it, simply close its window. I used only numbers without any suffix. This is if the value you are inputting have the same units as the one you have set in “Model Info”.

  • You can look at the Quick Reference card to get an idea of the keyboard shortcuts.
  • For older versions than that, there are several extensions that will give you that capability.
  • You can download SketchUp files, PNG images, and STl files directly to your computer.
  • It should be noted that all this typing of dimensions needs enter/return to complete.

SketchUp 2025 – Option to Revert to Original Material Library?

At least, I think that’s how it happened. In any case, it’s definitely “operator error” in not remembering that I had made that change “temporarily”. I’ve been doing “Hide Rest of Model” using the Layers (photoshop style) extension because I didn’t realize this was a function. 7 different messages in 2 different topics have told you to click on download and yet you still click on export right above download. Tried the same cube and my interface looks different with different options.

I did not click in the box, just drew a line and before clicking typed in the length that I wanted the line to go. And whenever I press enter, and it opens up the insert 3-D text dialogue instead of changing the line length. In you case it is now the time to enter a value. As I wrote before DO NOT click in the Dimension window, just type the required values.

This topic was automatically closed 91 days after the last reply. ‘PushPull’ lets you shrink or expand an object by selecting the relevant face, starting the relocation and then typing in an exact dim value. It should be noted that all this typing of dimensions needs enter/return to complete.

Is there an ACTUAL free version of Sketchup for students and hobbyists?

Go to profile, put all the correct information and at the end hit the save button. Another possibility with Windows is to open the pdf in Acrobat Reader then save the file as a jpg file that can then be imported in SketchUp. What happens when you do try to import the PDF into SketchUp? You have one map that is the actual image.

On this link you’ll find the release notes with all the new features of sketchup 2025. I am trying to import a pdf plan to sketchup and when I go to import the document it is not showing to attach it. Simply don’t activate metalics, roughness, normal or AO. You can also edit your material and turn all the maps off.

Very annoying water is not in 2025..

When I open the 2018 version I just created with the extension SketchUp 2025 shows it as a 2018 file as expected. I just tried to use it this way to import into V-Carve which needs a sketchup version of 2018 or earlier, and it doesn’t work. If you already have SketchUp 2025 open, using an extension to save back to an earlier version is easier than opening in an older SketchUp version. The extension won’t count against your SketchUp activations, either. Does anyone know how you can save as to an older version of Sketchup.

For older versions than that, there are several extensions that will give you that capability. Then I spent some months where I was doing all my SU on the v18 beta, so of course that was a parallel, vanilla installation and didn’t have those shortcut changes. I recently came across this site with a pretty good list of SketchUp keyboard shortcuts and I now use it all the time. Keep in mind it’s the commands that are important, not the particular shortcut keys I assigned to them.Don’t be too concerned about what others choose to do. The power of SU is you play your own game.Set things up to suit your individual workflow.

BTW, your profile shows you are using SketchUp 2022. You could open your 2025 model in 2022 and save it backward if needed. The native option to save to older versions was removed in SketchUP 2024.

  • Create materials the old way, importing an image for example.
  • As I wrote before DO NOT click in the Dimension window, just type the required values.
  • Only thing it does is open a window to either buy or cancel.
  • You have one map that is the actual image.

Based on what you wrote in your profile, you need to be using SketchUp Pro anyway. Then you could use the rbz files that you referenced. Kinda pointless to provide files that people can’t open. Just saying… I am a novice when it comes to this sorta thing so any help you can provide would be appreciated.

Once the F is freed up, I then assign it to Follow Me, which by default has no shortcut at all. No problem, just remember to update your forum profile, with the information of your new machine, that’s a helpful information for future problem solving. Read these before trying to use sketchup 2025 new features.

I just tested it with a file opened in SketchUp 2025. The extension works and makes a 2018 version of the file. Your library of custom third-party extensions created to optimize your SketchUp workflow. I finished my experiment, but I forgot to put things back. I collect shortcuts… from people I follow on You Tube…“Sketchup School” for example.Nice to have the same shortcuts, when they demonstrate and you pause and try.

If you need to input values in a different unit system, like meter or centimetre or inches or feet and inches, then you shall add the unit. For exemple, for a 2 feet by 4 feet rectangle, you would type 2’,4’ or 2’;4″ depending on you decimal separator setting. Please notice that you don’t need to click in the field. You only need to type required values and press the Return key or the Enter key to validate your input. Change the default F for Offset tool to O. True, “O” is preassigned to the Orbit tool, but if you use a three-button mouse you never need to use the Orbit tool anyway.

The material effects were set up in Twlight’s material editor. If memory serves me correct the image of the rings modeled by Box were also rendered in Twilight. I assume he used several of Twilight’s metal material setups for the render. Is there a way in SketchUp 2025 to revert to the original material library? The new materials are quite distracting—many of them feature square patterns with sharp corners that face directly at the viewer. Additionally, several key materials like grass, water, and others seem to be missing.

I’ve been away from SU for a while and just discovered that the “traditional” shortcut keys have been changed in SU ’18. For instance, F1 is no longer Help, it’s now Push/Pull and the P key does nothing. I think pin up casino most users would agree that the ability to setup shortcuts just the way you want is one of SU’s most powerful and endearing qualities. Don’t export, Download. The free version downloads .skp .png and .stl natively. SketchUp Go plays well with others. Upgrade today to access our full set of exporters, including .dwg, .dxf, .3ds, .dae, and more.”
